Fambawl Run Lian & Grace

Today, Fambawl and Grace run an orphanage and children’s home called “Hope For Myanmar Children”. Here they look after almost 30 children at a time, providing them with the necessities of life, love and care, and introducing them to our wonderful Lord and Saviour Jesus.

This has been their mission for the last 10 years or so, and as a result they have provided for a large number of children. Since 2018 Cornerstone has been helping with the expenses of this operation on a quarterly basis and we have hosted Fambawl and Grace on a visit to Ireland in order to introduce them to the church.

They love to receive emails from church members offering encouragement and fellowship and would greatly appreciate it if you felt led to send one. the email address is dts4christ@gmail.com.

At this time due to the turmoil in Myanmar due to the military coup our prayers, encouragement and support are especially needed. Keep an eye out on the church members FaceBook page, where Fambawl keeps us up to date on what is happening with them whenever the restrictions on internet access in Myanmar are lifted.

Since British rule ended in 1948 Myanmar has existed largely isolated from interaction with most other countries, and in the absence of trade has suffered from economic stagnation and consequently remains today an underdeveloped country in which the basic necessities of life are barely in reach of large numbers of the population.

The Christian history of Myanmar began in the 19th century. You can find a good account of the period of missions at https://sialki.wordpress.com.

However there is today a strong indigenous church in Myanmar which cannot be explained by missionary activity. In the twentieth century there have been a number of amazing revivals in which literally millions of Myanmar people were swept into the Kingdom by the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit.

An account of one of these revivals, which took place in Chin State in the 1970's, can be found at www.muc7.org/2017/03/the-great-revival-of-1973-in-tedim.html. It was in this revival the Run Lian as a young man gave his life to the Lord.
